CHAPTER 1

The screen went completely silent for a few seconds after the first recording ended.

No one inside the mansion moved.

Vanessa stood frozen, staring at the television as the truth she had worked so hard to erase slowly came back to destroy her.

The next video began playing.

The timestamp showed 3:21 p.m.

The footage revealed Vanessa walking toward the old doghouse while Lily begged her to open the door. The little girl’s voice trembled as she promised she would never touch anything she wasn’t supposed to again.

But Vanessa didn’t open the door.

Instead, she walked away.

Adrian watched every second with a cold expression on his face. The woman standing beside him was no longer the wife he thought he knew. She was someone who had deliberately hurt his children and then tried to erase the evidence.

Vanessa immediately started crying, claiming there was a misunderstanding.

She said she was angry for only a moment.

She said she never meant to scare them.

She said Adrian was judging her without knowing the whole story.

But Adrian didn’t answer.

Because the next recording had already started.

And this time, Vanessa’s own voice exposed everything.

The camera had captured her talking to herself after locking the children away.

She admitted she was tired of pretending to be the perfect stepmother.

She admitted she was jealous of the attention Adrian gave his children.

She admitted that she wanted Lily to understand who was in control of the mansion.

The room became painfully quiet.

Even Vanessa knew there was no excuse left.

Adrian looked at her and said the words she would never forget.

“You didn’t make a mistake. You made a choice.”

Vanessa fell to her knees, begging him not to destroy her life.

She reminded him of their marriage, their memories, and everything they had built together.

But Adrian remembered something else.

He remembered Lily’s frightened eyes.

He remembered his baby son crying inside that old doghouse.

He remembered the moment he realized the person he trusted most had become the greatest danger to his children.

He didn’t scream.

He didn’t lose control.

Instead, he calmly made one final decision.

Adrian had already contacted his lawyers before confronting Vanessa.

The backup system wasn’t only saving videos. It was also creating a secure record of every attempt to delete the evidence.

Every action Vanessa took.

Every recording she removed.

Every lie she told.

Everything was preserved.

Within days, Vanessa lost everything she believed she had secured.

Her access to the mansion was removed.

Her lies became public.

The carefully built image of the loving wife and perfect stepmother collapsed completely.

The woman who thought she could erase the truth discovered that some secrets always find their way back into the light.

Months later, Adrian stood in the backyard with Lily and her baby brother.

The old doghouse was gone.

In its place was a beautiful garden where his children could play safely.

Lily held her father’s hand and finally smiled again.

Adrian thought the nightmare was over.

But while organizing the remaining files from the backup system, he discovered one final hidden recording that had never been opened.

A file created on the same day everything began.

A file Vanessa never knew existed.

And when Adrian pressed play, he realized the truth he had uncovered was only the beginning of a much bigger betrayal…

Li ho trovati quasi subito. Vietato l’uso di computer portatili. Nessuna cartella….

“Segui queste istruzioni.”

Non era dovuto all’ansia. Era…
